Initiative Process Information

The initiative process document is intended as a guide for those considering filing an initiative application. The people may propose and enact laws by the initiative process. It is highly recommended that before beginning this process the applicants consult the Wyoming Constitution and the Election Code of the Wyoming State Statutes. An electronic version of the Constitution may be obtained via our website. An electronic version of the Wyoming Election Code may be obtained by visiting the Legislative Service Office's website.


In addition, bound copies of both documents are available from the Secretary of State's Office for a pre-paid fee of $3.00 per copy.


Referendum Process Information

The referendum process document is intended as a guide for those considering filing a referendum application. The referendum process is used to approve or reject acts of the legislature. As with the initiative process, it is highly recommended that before beginning this process applicants consult the Wyoming Constitution and the Election Code of the Wyoming State Statutes. An electronic version of the Constitution may be obtained via our website. An electronic version of the Wyoming Election Code may be obtained by visiting the Legislative Service Office's website.
